Protect Wildlife from Your Pet
Text taken from the San Diego Zoo website:
Cats kill hundreds of millions of wild songbirds each year—and they can’t tell which are common and which are endangered! Dogs, allowed to run free, like to thrash through thickets. They chase birds like the rare California gnatcatcher, and disturb their nests. What can you do to help? Keep your kitty inside, and use a leash when walking your dog.
Also, if you do let your cat outside, put a collar with bells on your cat, to at least give the birds a head start.
If we are upset with the government for jeopardizing countless species by drilling in Alaska and opting out of the Kyoto treaty, we can at least do our part by controlling our pets.
